Minister Han Changfu and Mr. Carlos Furche, Minister of Agriculture of Chile, co-chaired the2nd Meeting of China-Chile Joint Committee on Agriculture in Beijing on Sept. 2, 2016.
Both sides spoke highly of the bilateral agricultural cooperation since the 1st Meeting of China-Chile Joint Committee on Agriculture, looking forward to more pragmatic cooperation in future.
In order to strengthen the bilateral cooperation, the two sides reached following consensus:
First, continue to push forward the construction of China-Chile demonstration farm, and renew the Memorandum of Understanding on the Development of China-Chile Demonstration Farm at an appropriate time; China and Chile agreed that the Chile-China demonstration farm would be built jointly by the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) and the Institute of Agricultural Research of Chile;
Second, enhance agricultural S&T cooperation, and support and encourage CAAS and the Institute of Agricultural Research of Chile to co-build a R&D center and conduct cooperation in remotesensing application, climate change adaptation in agriculture, and crop variety exchange, among others;
Third, seek the possibility to conduct bio-pesticide information exchanges, particularly in the areas of bio-pesticide technology, information and registration management;
Fourth, strengthen the cooperation in animal health and veterinary services, and establish a direct dialog and communication mechanism between veterinary authorities of the two countries;
Fifth, improve the agricultural cooperation mechanism and set up a liaison working group for the Committee to maintain close contact on the time and agenda of meetings and the daily operation of the Committee.
After the meeting, the two sides signed the Minute of the 2nd Meeting of China-Chile Joint Committee on Agriculture.
