UC Davis Plant Breeding Academy Class VI – call for registrationUC Davis Plant Breeding Academy Class VI – call for registration" title="Share this link on Facebook">Davis, California, USAMay 5, 2016We are currently accepting applications for the remaining spots in the UC Davis Plant Breeding Academy (PBA) Class VI beginning in September 2016. The class size is limited to twenty (20).The UC Davis PBA is a professional certificate program that has been offered since 2006 with classes in the United States, Europe, Africa and Asia. To date, the Academy has trained more than 200 breeders, 80% of which are from the private seed industry.The PBA is a postgraduate course that teaches the fundamentals of plant breeding, genetics and statistics through lectures, discussions, and field trips to public and private breeding programs. The 2016 class core curriculum will maintain the upgrades from the previous classes and add modules to address the most recent developments in plant breeding theory and practice.The core instructors include internationally recognized experts in plant breeding and seed technology: Kent Bradford, Allen Van Deynze, Rale Gjuric (UC Davis), Rita Mumm (University of Illinois) and Todd Wehner (North Carolina State University). They will be supported by a number of guest lecturers from private industry and academia.Employers appreciate the opportunity to provide their valued employees advanced training without interrupting their full-time employment.
