A genetically-modified (GM) corn, developed by Monsanto to resist its dicamba herbicide, will no longer be placed under regulation, the USDA announced.

The product – known as MON87419 - can now be planted without seeking permits or additional regulatory oversight from the agency. The cornis also capable of resisting glufosinate herbicide.

Monsantointends dicamba to be used for diversifying and providing long-term growth, with its glyphosate herbicide currently facing competition from generic products.
