Coordination Meeting on TADs control in East Asia held in Shanghai

The Coordination Meeting on TADs control in East Asia was jointly held by MOA, OIE and FAO in Shanghai from March 24 to 26, 2016. During the meeting the delegates exchanged information on the situation of FMD and other transboundary animal diseases (TADs) in the region, animal disease prevention and control experiences, project progress and the roadmap for animal diseases prevention and control.
The project of FMD Prevention and Control in East Asia was launched in 2011 and implemented by OIE Regional Representative for Asia and the Pacific. Its participants include Mongolia, DPR of Korea, Republic of Korea, Japan, China and Hong Kong SAR. As a major participant in this project, adhering to the principle of promptness, openness and transparency, China has always paid great attention to the collaboration with other members in this region for the prevention and control of FMD and other TADs, communicating in a timely manner the epidemic situation as well as prevention and control measures, constantly improving the bilateral cooperative mechanisms with neighboring countries including Mongolia and Laos for TADs control, actively conducting technical exchanges in epidemiological investigation, laboratory testing and clinical diagnosis, training veterinary professionals for related countries and providing material aid to other countries within its competence.
Around 30 delegates from FAO, OIE, the project members and domestic research institutes of China attended the meeting.
