Vice Minister Qu Dongyu meets UN Under-Secretary-General & ESCAP Executive Secretary

Vice Minister Qu Dongyu met with Shamshad Akhtar, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), in Beijing on April 11, 2016.
Vice Minister Qu appreciated ESCAP's role in promoting regional cooperation and integration as well as coordinating regional social and economic development. Qu noted that the Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) of China has attached great importance to cooperation with the Center for Sustainable Agricultural Mechanization (CSAM) of ESCAP. In recent years, CSAM has renewed its development strategy through significant project integration and constant improvement of its core business, and pushed forward regional agricultural engineering and mechanization.
Qu hoped that Shamshad Akhtar could continue to support the work of CSAM and facilitate its development as an important organization in international food and agriculture area, especially in agricultural mechanization.
Shamshad Akhtar spoke highly of MOA's support to CSAM. She expressed her willingness to work with China to further enhance the influence of CSAM in the Asia-Pacific region in achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
The two sides also exchanged views on strengthening cooperation with CSAM.
