Vice Minister Qu Dongyu meets German Parliamentary State Secretary for Food and Agriculture

Vice Minister Qu Dongyu met Mr. Peter Bleser, Parliamentary State Secretary for Food and Agriculture (BMEL)of Germany, in Beijing on Nov. 17, 2015. The two sides exchanged views on deepening the practical agricultural cooperation between China and German.

 

Vice Minister Qu spoke highly of the bilateral agricultural cooperation, stressing that agricultural cooperation is an important component of the bilateral relations and serves as a model for agricultural cooperation between China and European countries. He pointed out that the two sides should follow the principle of mutual benefit for win-win outcome, capitalize on the platform of the Sino-German Agricultural Center and deepen cooperation in crop production technologies and related equipment, livestock production, biomass-energy and agricultural S&T.

 

Vice Minister Qu suggested that modern ecological agriculture and China-German condiments exhibition be adopted as priorities for future bilateral cooperation. Developing modern ecological agriculture is an important approach for green development outlined in the proposal of China''s 13th Five-Year Plan. German is advanced in the development of ecological agriculture and management practices from which China has much to learn. Competent agencies from the two sides should enhance communication and exchange at technical level for early implementation of the agreed joint projects. With regard to the condiments exhibition, Vice Minister Qu expressed his hope that the two sides seize market opportunities and present a market-oriented high-end international exhibition of condiment products.

 

Mr. Bleser agreed with Vice Minister Qu on his comments and suggestions, and expressed the willingness of the German side to press ahead with the agricultural cooperation with China.

 

The two sides also exchanged views on animal health, the preservation and conservation of Antarctic marine living resources and other issues.
