Minister Han Changfu meets his Brazilian counterpart

Minister Han Changfu met Ms. Kátia Regina de Abreu, Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply (MAPA)of the Federative Republic of Brazil, in Beijing on Nov. 18, 2015. The two sides exchanged views on deepening the bilateral agricultural cooperation.

 

Minister Han noted that China and Brazil highly value the bilateral agricultural cooperation, which has yielded encouraging achievements in working mechanisms, personnel exchanges, S&T cooperation and agricultural trade, among others. China stands ready to continue deepening cooperation with Brazil in various areas in the field of agriculture.

 

To this end, Minister Han put forward the following suggestions: First, give full play to the agricultural cooperation mechanisms to create more opportunities for mutually-beneficial cooperation; second, improve China-Brazil joint laboratoriesto provide technical support to the development of modern agriculture in both countries; third, encourage enterprises from the two countries to conduct direct agricultural commodities trade and mutual investment to promote the constant integration of the two countries in agriculture.

 

Ms. Abreu agreed with Minister Han on his comments on and suggestions for the bilateral agricultural cooperation. She stated that Brazil attaches great importance to the agricultural cooperation with China, hoping to increase exchanges in agricultural bio-technology, joint laboratories, animal health, agricultural trade and investment to jointly push forward the bilateral agricultural cooperation for greater achievements.
