Member of MOA CPC Leading Group Yang Shaopin meets Vice Minister of Agriculture, Food and Environment of Spain

Member of MOA CPC Leading Group Yang Shaopin met with Carlos Cabanas, Vice Minister of Agriculture, Food and Environment of Spain, in Madrid, on December 10, 2015.

 

Yang noted that the G20 Agriculture Ministers'' Meeting is scheduled to be held in Xi'' an, China in early June of 2016. As a special guest country of G20, Spain plays an active role and China welcomes the Spanish delegation to the meeting.

 

It is known to all that the wine, olive oil, meat, citrus and dairy industries are quite developed in Spain. Spain is also a world leader in pelagic fishing and aqua-product processing, and there are great potentials for bilateral agricultural cooperation.

 

In order to further enhance agricultural cooperation, Yang put forward the following proposal: first, to support comprehensive investment and mergers and acquisitions of agri-businesses; second, to boost agricultural trade, create conditions and build platforms, and actively participate in international agro-product promotion events and expositions organized by the other side; third, to intensify agricultural S&T cooperation and encourage technical exchanges and cooperation in animal health, protected agriculture, water-saving agriculture, agro-product processing and pelagic fisheries.

 

Carlos Cabanas fully agreed with Yang on his proposal and expressed his willingness to work with China to promote agricultural development of the two countries.

 

During the visit to Spain, the Chinese delegation also made a field study to Miquel Alimentació, a company acquired by Bright Food Co.Ltd of China, a dairy branch of Group Danone, as well as a red winery.
