Methionine prices soften in China despite renminbi depreciation, Tianjin port explosion

Prices of methionine weakened further during the week ending August 17.

Methionine distributors attempted to lift prices after renminbi depreciated last week but in vain as demand remained weak.

For liquid methionine, price quotes stayed unchanged at RM28-29/kg.

Supplies of methionine are expected to stay ample, putting a lid on the prices.

RMB1=US$0.1563 (Aug 18)
