PRBA Statement on Lithium Batteries in Checked Baggage and Recent FAA Safety Alert

PRBA – The Rechargeable Battery Association fully endorses today's FAA's safety alert and its request that airlines warn passengers not to put lithium batteries in their checked luggage. For years, FAA regulations have prohibited spare lithium batteries in checked luggage. PRBA has repeatedly endorsed and supported FAA efforts and encouraged full compliance. If airline passengers observe FAA safety requirements, they will minimize mistakes that could cause safety problems. Lithium batteries pose minimal risk aboard aircraft if the recommended safety precautions urged by FAA are followed.
