Malaysian firm Astino helping modernise Philippine poultry infrastructure

Malaysian firm Astino Agro-House Multi System Sdn. Bhd has gained a foothold in the Philippines, where it is has started projects and is exploring more opportunities to modernise infrastructure supporting the local poultryindustry.

Nyaee Ayup, commissioner of the Embassy of Malaysia Trade Office (Matrade) in Manila, said in a statement that Astino Agro-House Multi System and other Malaysian companies could help Filipino farmers "increase their productivity and, most importantly, become more profitable".

Already, Astino is completing poultry house projects in the Philippines'' main island, Luzon, and is rolling out similar facilities in Cagayan de Oro and General Santos cities in Mindanao.

Astino was one of several Malaysian companies that participated in the Livestock Philippines 2015 Expo held in Manila last June24-26.

State-of-the-art system

The statement quoted Astino sales manager Mex Tay as saying that the company is offering a state-of-the-art system that can ensure high-product quality and reliability, cost effectiveness, easy maintenance and safe sanitary conditions.

Astino can build poultry houses, swine houses, and warehouses that can withstand typhoons and the effects of climate change, he said, adding that a state-of-the-art poultry house by Astino can last about 20 years, withstand 250-kilometer/hour winds and decrease mortality rate, which leads to more income and fast return of investment.

"We see farmers shifting to advanced economical and environmentally friendly solution infrastructure from the traditional poultry house. The mortality rate of chickens will be decreased by 5 percent if they shift to our prefab houses. We can keep and manage the temperature because the inside and out of the house is insulated," Tay said.

"We can tailor-made houses for customers. We call them generation houses, because these are long-lasting", he added.

Astino Agro-House Multi System is part of the Astino Group of Companies, whose holding company, Astino Berhand, was incorportated in 2000 and is listed on Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad (Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange).

Under the brand name of ASTINO®, the company has established itself as one of the leading industrial enterprise in the field of building products with three major manufacturing in Peninsular Malaysia. --Rick Alberto
