1st China-Georgia Agricultural Cooperation Working Group Meeting opens

Minister Han Changfu and Otar Danelia, Minister of Agriculture of Georgia, co-chaired the 1st China-Georgia Agricultural Cooperation Working Group Meeting in Beijing on July 13, 2015. The two sides exchanged views on deepening bilateral agricultural cooperation and reached broad consensus.

 

Minister Han said that the opening of the 1st China-Georgian Agricultural Cooperation Working Group Meeting marks a new beginning for bilateral cooperation under improved mechanism. China and Georgia own different characteristics in agriculture, and thus enjoy great potentials for further cooperation. Minister Han proposed that under the existing cooperation mechanism, the two sides should strengthen cooperation in tea and grape farming and processing and germplasm exchanges, create platforms to promote agricultural trade, and facilitate agricultural technology exchanges and cooperation, trade and investment in such areas as modern agricultural irrigation system, rice cultivation and production, greenhouse infrastructure, agricultural machinery, sericulture, fruit and vegetables, and so on.

 

Qu Dongyu, Vice Minister of MOA, and Bi Meijia, Chief Economist of MOA also attended the meeting.
