Vice Minister Yu Xinrong met with Indonesian Minister of Agriculture Suswono in Jakarta on February 19, 2014.
Yu noted that since the Memorandum of Understanding between Ministry of Agriculture of China and Ministry of Agriculture of Indonesia on Agricultural Cooperation was signed in 2001, the two sides have made remarkable achievements in various areas like coordinating bilateral and multilateral policies on agriculture and food security issues, strengthening agricultural trade partnership, promoting investment in agricultural sectors, and so on. The Chinese side hopes that the 3rd Meeting of China-Indonesia Joint Committee on Agriculture can be convened at an early date. "We are looking forward to outlining a plan on deepening bilateral cooperation, expanding mutual investment, and boosting the rapid growth of agricultural trade," Yu said.
Minister Suswono fully agreed with Yu's suggestions, and expressed his wishes to enhance collaboration with China in hybrid-rice technologies and agri-product processing and trade, to push forward the common development of both countries.
During his visit to Indonesia, Yu also attended the hybrid-rice cultivation ceremony of Sichuan Guohao Seed Industry Co. Ltd., and paid a field study to the hybrid-rice demonstration park established by Hunan Longping Seed Industry Co. Ltd.
