Shanxi ICA launches an inspection campaign on pesticide safety

Shanxi ICA launched a one-week inspection campaign on pesticide safety in October. During the campaign, two teams from Shanxi ICA inspected pesticide manufacturing enterprises, marketing entities and greenhouses in ten counties of Yuncheng, Linfen, Xinzhou, Shuozhou, and Datong.

The inspection to manufacturers focused on the license to manufacturing, pesticide registration permit, the adulteration of non-specified ingredients, low content of active ingredients, randomly expanded use of labels, and willful change of label contents.

The inspection to pesticide marketing entities investigated the qualifications and conditions of marketing, including whether there are any safety and protection measures, any prevention measures against environment pollution and strict management and traceability system, whether keep books on pesticide purchase and sale, and whether take stock of prohibited pesticides.

The inspection to greenhouses mostly concentrated on the use of pesticides, whether pesticides are used in a scientific and safe manner, whether use pesticides in pre-harvest intervals, or whether use any prohibited pesticides.

It was found out from the inspections that pesticide manufacturing and pesticide market are relatively stable, farmers' awareness of safe pesticide use are greatly improved, and no major safety hazards are detected. The inspection teams will see through the correction of errors detected from the inspections.
