Zhejiang makes steady progress in pesticide management system development

In the year of 2012, Zhejiang ICA put particular emphasis on the development of pesticide management system and made steady progress in this regard. The provincial pesticide management meeting was held in Hangzhou in June, which defined the roadmap, method and process of the system development. At the Meeting, it was determined that on the basis of integrating existing capacities, pilot programs should be launched to establish pesticide management authorities at municipal and county levels, and further facilitate the three-tier (provincial, municipal and county) system development.
At present, 78 municipalities and counties (districts) across the Province have assigned institutions and personnel in charge of pesticide management. Three municipalities namely Wenzhou, Jinhua and Quzhou, as well as two counties namely Kaihua and Linhai took the lead in putting up the plate of pesticide control institute.
In light of the  Pesticide Management Regulations, greater efforts will be made in the following areas: to conduct training and publicity activities and enhance technical competence of the staff; to take the advantage of IT application, adopt an intelligent management approach and promote joint actions of authorities at all levels; and to strengthen industrial regulation and ensure the effective implementation of all measures with a key target at serving the modern agricultural development of the Province.
