Vice Minister Chen Xiaohua meets his Argentine counterpart

Vice Minister Chen Xiaohua met with Gabriel Delgado, Vice Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Argentine Republic, in Beijing on May 5, 2015. The two sides exchanged views on further strengthening bilateral agricultural cooperation.
Chen pointed out that China has always attached great importance to the traditional friendly relationship with Argentina and close cooperative relations between the two ministries have been established. The bilateral agricultural cooperation is smooth and China is ready to work with Argentina to actively promote the pragmatic cooperation in the area of agriculture under the framework of joint commission on agricultural cooperation. Chen put forward a 4-point proposal: first, pragmatically promote and raise the level of the bilateral agricultural cooperation; second, continue giving full play to the joint commission and related working groups, and create conditions and opportunities for pragmatic cooperation; third, strengthen the agricultural research cooperation and work together to raise the innovative capabilities of both countries in agricultural technology; and fourth, deepen the agriculture trade and investment cooperation and enhance the international agriculture competitiveness of both countries, realizing complementarity.
Mr. Delgado agreed with Chen on his comments on and proposals for the bilateral agricultural cooperation. Mr. Delgado said that Argentina attaches great importance to the agricultural cooperation with China and hopes to further expand the cooperation in such areas as crop production and irrigation projects, animal husbandry, agricultural biotechnology, and fisheries & aquaculture, in a bid to jointly promote the bilateral agricultural cooperation for greater achievements.
After the meeting, Vice Minister Chen and Mr. Delgado witnessed the signing of the Minutes of the First Meeting of China-Argentina Animal Health Working Group.
