Kailuan Energy targets coal output at 9 mln T in 2015

Hebei-based Kailuan Energy Chemical Co., Ltd., a major producer of metallurgical coal used for steel production, planned to produce 9 million tonnes of raw coal in 2015, up 6.9% from 8.42 million tonnes produced last year, the company said in its quarterly report on April 30.The company also targeted output of self-produced washed coal at 3.22 million tonnes this year, up 1% year on year.Kailuan Energy produced a total 2.19 million tonnes of raw coal in the first quarter, down 0.11% on year; while the output of washed coal fell 5.87% on year to 769,200 tonnesTotal sales of washed coal during the first quarter increased 54.07% year on year to 594,000 tonnes, the company said.It also aimed to produce 7.18 million tonnes of coke this year. In the first quarter, coke output increased 1.33% on year to 1.86 million tonnes; while sales during the same period rose 9.95% to 1.78 million tonnes.In the first quarter, total loss of the company stood at 57.69 million yuan ($9.3 million), compared with 50.09 million yuan of profit last year, which was due to persisting low coal and coke prices.Total business revenue during the first quarter reached 2.093 billion yuan, down 18.9% on year, with total loss at 29.97 million yuan, compared to profit of 63.25 million yuan a year ago.The company planned to reach operation revenue of 13.2 billion yuan this year. Total operation revenue last year was 14.3 billion yuan, down 16.77% year on year.
