This group of young women is responsible for promoting the consumption of their region’s watermelon crop both within the agriculture industry and directly with consumers.The National Watermelon Promotional Board’s Queen Program consists of honorary queens and runner ups that help drive watermelon sales through various promotional efforts. Before these women begin communicating the benefits of watermelon, it is important to prepare for any and all appearances including media interviews, store grand openings, special events, hospitals, schools, festivals and parades. We were honored to host this group of young women at the Bayer Bee Care Center to work through PR training, industry grower knowledge, seed to farm timelines, and of course, a tour of the Bee Care Center.Sales specialists, Chuck Elam, Russ Beckham and Rob Beets educated the Watermelon Queens at the Bayer Bee Care Center on April 10-12th. This event was a great opportunity to support female leaders of the future and teach them how we, as a company, are creating sustainable solutions for bees and seed alike. The newly crowned 2015 National Watermelon Queen, Emily Mae Brown, will begin traveling to cities all over the nation telling consumers about the nutritional and economic benefits of watermelon.
