LaVigne released the following statement on the introduction of the Safe and Accurate Food Labeling Act:“The American Seed Trade Association is pleased the Safe and Accurate Food Labeling Act establishes uniform rules and a national certification program for foods that have been produced with bioengineered ingredients. A patchwork of mandatory state labeling regulations would only serve to mislead and confuse consumers and raise the price of groceries for American families.“ASTA also appreciates the legislation would strengthen the authority of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on science-based labeling standards. The Safe and Accurate Food Labeling Act is a common sense solution and we urge swift consideration by the House of Representatives.”Founded in 1883, the American Seed Trade Association (ASTA) represents over 700 companies involved in seed production, plant breeding and related industries in North America. Our mission is to be an effective voice of action in all matters concerning the development, marketing and movement of seed, associated products and services throughout the world.ASTA’s broad membership offers varieties from alfalfa to zucchini and all production types including conventional, organic and biotech. We promote the development of better seed to produce better crops for a better quality of life.More news from: ASTA - American Seed Trade Association*Website: http://www.cnchemicals.com/ Published: March 25, 2015The news item on this page is copyright by the organization where it originatedFair use notice
