Monsanto to expand Iowa facility
Press Release
Monsanto announced it is expanding the formulations and packaging capacity of its plant in Muscatine, Iowa, USA. The facility will contribute to the launch of the company's dicamba-tolerant products, namely Roundup Ready 2 Xtend™ soybeans and Bollgard II® XtendFlex™ cotton.
Those products were recently deregulated by the USDA and are awaiting the approval of the Environmental Protection Agency.
Monsanto's action follows the Iowa Department of Economic Development Authority's announcement it is providing incentives to the company's expansion. The project is expected to create additional full-time jobs in Muscatine with hiring to begin in spring.
Opened in 1961, the facility currently employs over 400 full-time workers. It occupies more than 500 acres of land and produces both selective chemistry products and glyphosate herbicide products in Monsanto's crop-protection portfolio. These products include Warrant, Degree, Harness, WeatherMax and PowerMax.
