House of Raeford Farms acquires 'further processing' company

US-based House of Raeford Farms will acquire Filet of Chicken- a 'further processing' company based in Georgia – from Flagship Food Group LLC and the two companies have entered into a joint marketing agreement.

House of Raefordproduces fully cooked chicken products, while Filet of Chicken specialises in partially-fried products that come frozen and require some additional cooking. Filet of Chicken's plant is based just outside of Atlanta in Forest Park, Georgia and its customers include restaurants like Applebee's, Ruby Tuesday, Smokey Bones and Olive Garden.

House of Raeford, headquartered in Rose Hill, with facilities in Georgia, Louisiana and South Carolina, is a family-owned chicken and turkey processing company and one of the 10 largest chicken processors in the United States.

CEO Bob Johnson said in a release that the acquisition of Filet of Chicken supports the company's strategy announced last year to expand its cooked chicken product lines in conjunction with an increase in chicken production volumes. Filet of Chicken will join the company's three other cook plants, located in Hemingway, S.C.; Raeford, and Mocksville. The deal is expected to close by June 27.
