China fosters stronger ties with Myanmar
On November 15, China has signed a host of agreements worth US$7.8 billion with Myanmarforenergy, agriculture, telecommunications, infrastructure and finance during Chinese Premier Li Keqiang's visit last week.
Under the signed agreement for agriculture, China will offer US$300 million in small-scale loans for the sector and set up an agriculture cooperation committee. In addition, for the next 5 years, China will also help to train 300 agricultural workers in Myanmar, equipping them with relevant technical and management skills; setting up a China-Burma agricultural technical training centre in Yunnan, China and a China-Burmaagricultural technical demonstration centre and designated animal diseases free zone in Myanmar.
