China imports non-GMO corn from Bulgaria for the first time
China's first imported non-GMO corn from Bulgaria, weighing 36,700 tons, has arrived at Shenzhen's Shekou port earlier this week. It will be permitted for sales in China upon passing the various checks and quarantine.
According to Tianjin Nongkenlongchengjiayi International Trade Co., Ltd who imported the produce, this batch of corn was actually planted by the company in Bulgaria. The spokesperson further mentioned that company will be importing 175,000 tons of corn this year, with next year's imports expected to reach between 300,000 to 500,000 tons.
