China husbandry and feed industry expo opens in Chengdu

China Animal Husbandry and Feed Industry Expo 2009, an event joint-organised by China Animal Agriculture Association, China Feed Industry Association and the National Animal Husbandry Station was officially opened on Sunday (May 17) in Chengdu, Sichuan.

Occupying six exhibition halls, the event was attended by more than 200 companies coming from six major industries of feed producing, additives manufacturing, animal nutritional products, poultry and aquaculture breeding, mechanised feed production and rearing as well as companies that develop management software for animal husbandry.

The three key focus of the event were to exhibit and promote the usage of new products and latest technologies and discussing the development of the animal husbandry and feed industries. And with the participation of the country''s leading enterprises, it raised the overall standard of the event.

Most of China''s top feed manufacturers attended the event, which included Sichuan New Hope Group, Sichuan Tongwei Group, Sichuan TQLS Group, Chia Tai Group, Jiangxi Zhengbang Group, Shanghai Dajiang Group, Liaoning Wellhope Agri-tech Co Ltd, COFCO and China Animal Husbandry Group.

Meanwhile, the higher attendance rate of companies that produce additives and animal nutritional products reflected to a certain extent of the disparity of profits earned by the different segments along China''s animal husbandry and feed industrial chain. Currently, feed additives and animal nutritional products manufacturers make more profits than those feed millers that produce finished products.

Another focal point of the event was the initiative taken by top companies to lead the comprehensive discussions on the current and future developments of the industries. For instance, Sichuan Tongwei Group analysed the negative impact of the global economic downturn on China''s livestock and feed industries and proposed solutions to tackle the problem.

The event was further enriched with the addition of a global live hog discussion forum, a convention on the development of China''s poultry industry as well as a seminar on the usage of specialised technologies.
