Japan's August compound feed output falls 1.5% on-year
Japan's total compound feed output fell 1.5% in August from a year earlier to 1.899 million tonnes, for the fourth straight month of on-year declines, Agriculture Ministry data showed Wednesday (Oct 20).
In July, total output of compound feed for animals fell 0.3% from a year earlier to 1.97 million tonnes.
Japan is the world's biggest importer of corn, the main ingredient in animal feed in Japan. The US is its main supplier of corn for feed use. Its corn production is negligible.
