Guangzhou China Mar. 2, 2011 - The forecast from Ministry of Agriculture's official website is that the scope of crop diseases and insect pests will enlarge in this year due to severe dry weather and large cardinal number of over-wintering insect pests. The outbreak of pests and diseases is more serious than last year. As estimated, the affected areas will be more than 0.4 billion ha, and the controls of plant diseases and insect pests will be more difficult.

Recently, wheat mite, aphids and other insect pests burst out from north to south in wheat area and the situation is becoming more and more serious. Until February 2011, wheat mite, aphids and rhizoctonia solani have hit wheat area in Huanghuai, Jianghuai and North China. Over 3.18 million ha wheat are hit, and 1.13 million ha wheat are affected by heat mite, up 1.4 times compared with the same period last year. Aphids have attacked 0.86 million ha wheat, up 2.4 times compared with the same period last year.

Furthermore, it is estimated that major areas in China has a higher temperature and less rain, which help wheat mite and aphids grow. As the temperature is up, different kinds of plant disease erupts, and the demand for pesticides undoubtedly increases. Each year, the price of the product will rise and drive the pesticides demand in the second quarter. Though the price hasn't grown apparently, it is still very high.
