Ukraine's 2013-14 grain exports up 27.7% on-year
As of December 23, Ukraine has exported 17.6 million tonnes of grains for the 2013-14 marketing year, an increase of27.7% against the same period of 2012, according to the press service of the Agricultural Policy and Food Ministry of Ukraine.
Wheat exports overthe reporting period made up 6.64 million tonnes (including 5.34 million tonnes of milling wheat), barleyat 2.01 million tonnes, and cornat 8.79 million tonnes.
Exports of oil-bearing crops, since the beginning of the 2013-14marketing year,reached 2.5 million tonnes, including 1.9 million tonnes of rapeseedand0.61 million tonnes of soy.
According to the ministry, as of December 19, 63.664 million tonnes of grain, with anaverage crop capacity of 40.3 centners/hectare was thrashed from 15.749 million hectares (99%). About 30.059 million tonnes of corn was harvested from 4.814 million hectares. The average crop capacity of grain crops made up 62.4 centners/hectare. The yield of sunflower seeds was harvested on 4.8 million hectares and made up 10.6 million tonnes. Crop capacity made up approximately 22 centners/hectare.
