South Africa soon to export yellow corn to China
South Africa, the biggest cornproducer in Africa, will soon start export of the yellow corn to China.
Talks between the two countries are in the final stage, CEO of Grain SA, Jannie de Villiers said.
South Africa uses white corn to make local food "pap", while the yellow corn is mainly used as feed ingredient.
The country's exports of yellow corn reached 1.2 million tonnes in the season ended April 30, more than doubled from a year ago, according to the Crop Estimates Committee.
The country is expected to produce 13.9 million tonnes of white and yellow corn this season, the biggest harvest since 1981.
