On October 4, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao visited Guangxi Petrochemical Companylocated at Qinzhou Port in the Bay of Tonkin area, Guangxi Province.
After being briefed on the construction of the 10Mt/a refinery, Premier Wen offered significant instructions on the constructionof the project. Premier Wen stressed that priority should be given toenvironmental protectionwhen adopting scientific planning and advancedtechnologies in the developmentand construction of the Bay of Tonkin area.
The petrochemical project in Guangxi, which is to becomeoperational in the first halfof 2010, is an important project of CNPC in itsrefinerydistribution adjustment and has great influence in ensuring the supplyof oilproducts in Southwest China and promoting the economic and social development inGuangxi.
