EU commercial vehicle registrations maintain downtrend in Jan

In January this year, new commercial vehicle registrations in the European Union further declined by 10.6 percent year on year to 126,110 units, continuing the downward year-on-year trend which prevailed throughout 2012, according to the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA). Of all most significant markets, the UK was the only one to post growth, with 5.4 percent, while France (-9.8 percent), Germany (-15.5 percent), Spain (-15.5 percent) and Italy (-23.6 percent) saw their markets shrink, all on year-on-year basis.

In January, new heavy commercial vehicle registrations in the EU declined by 18.4 percent year on year to 15,550 units. In the month in question, the EU registered a 17.2 percent year-on-year drop in registrations of new trucks to 20,306. In the meantime, new bus and coach registrations rose by 9.8 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, amounting to 2,675 vehicles.
