The US produced 4.4 million tons of iron ore in March, increasing by 13% from a month ago and rising by 2.6% year on year, according to data released by the Mineral Industry Survey released by the US Geological Survey (USGS).
Meanwhile, the country's iron ore shipment totaled 2 million tons in March, jumping from 611,000 tons in February but falling by 5.2% year on year.
Besides, the US exported 807,000 tons of iron ore in March, jumping by 67.1% from a month ago.
In the first quarter of this year, the country's iron ore output totaled 12.5 million tons, decreasing by 1.6% year on year. At the same time, its iron ore shipments were at 5.7 million tons, falling by 14.2% year on year.
In the given period of time, the US iron ore exports totaled 2.3 million tons, down by 3.3% year on year.
