Baogang sells 180,000 mt of steel products for wind power sector in Jan-May

Inner Mongolia-based Chinese steelmaker Baotou Iron and Steel (Baogang Group) has announced that in January-May this year its total sales volume of steel products used in the wind power sector exceeded 180,000 mt.

In the given period, Baogang Steel's shipments of steel products for the wind power sector supplied 42.3 percent of demand for these products in Northwestern China, 30 percent of demand for the products in the North China region, 90 percent of demand in the area around the city of Baotou, while its shipments supplied 20 percent of demand for the given products in the northeastern region of China.

Officials from Baogang Group stated that approval of hydropower and wind power construction projects by China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) is expected to provide commercial opportunities for its steel products for the wind power sector.
