Pyrethrins has witnessed increase in consumption in overseas market, but it still has a low demand in China. Nowadays, pyrethrins consumption in China is concentrated on hygienic insecticides, the pyrethrins technical consumption in which is tiny in comparison with other insecticide technical consumption in crop protection, because hygienic insecticides market is much smaller than agricultural insecticides market. It's observed that 12 of 15 active pyrethrins formulation registrations in China were achieved for hygienic insecticide consumption, according to Insecticides China News 1310 issued by CCM in October.

As of Sept. 19, 2013, only four Chinese agrochemical companies gained official approval of pyrethrins TC registrations formally, which are Honghe Senju Biology Co., Ltd., Yunnan Nanbao Phytochemical Engineering Co., Ltd., Yunnan Zhongzhi Bio-tech Co., Ltd. and Botanical Resources Australia Pty. Ltd.

Although the four producers did not completely release the data about their pyrethrins production, it's speculated that the total capacity of pyrethrins technical in China is less than 1,000/a at present. This industrial scale in China is mainly attributed to the weak terminal consumption, according to insiders’ comments.

On one hand, pyrethrins was only for hygenic use in China, leading to its lower demand. It is observed that the end product of pyrethrins for hygienic use includes a few active substances, of whose content generally ranges from 0.2% to 2.0%. In comparison with other insecticides for crop protection use, pyrethrins is obviously unpopular on Chinese insecticide list.

On the other hand, natural essence of pyrethrins makes its capacity and output tightly restricted by many unavoidable barriers such as low yield in pyrethrins extraction from pyrethrum, harsh demand for pyrethrins application, high cost in pyrethrins production, etc. Due to high phototoxic character, pyrethrins will easily degrade to carbon monoxide and water.

As far as the environmental protection is concerned, the phototoxic character of pyrethrins is an excellent advantage since there is no pollution after its application. It is of low toxicity for human as well. These advantages are suitable for hygienic insecticide control. Regarding pyrethrins use as biopesticides in crop protection, they are also the brilliant spots of pyrethrins.

Lately the pesticide industry in China is developing sustainably. Many tags such as environment friendly, healthy for human, natural and so forth are growing in demand. Various factors are pushing this trend aggressively. It is predicted that pyrethrins will have a good prospect in the coming years.

Pyrethrins is a natural substance extracted from pyrethrum, which is highly effective in insect control and are safe for humans and animals. In general, pyrethrins includes several categories, namely pyrethrins I, pyrethrins II, cinerin I, cinerin II, jasmolin I and jasmolin II.
