Minister Han Changfu met with Mr. José Condugua António Pacheco, Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Mozambique in Beijing on July 15, 2014. The two sides exchanged views on boosting China-Mozambique agricultural exchange and investment cooperation in an all-rounded manner.

At the meeting, Minister Han spoke highly of the bilateral cooperation on Agri-technology Demonstration Center, human resource development and agriculture investment under the framework of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.

In addition, Minister Han put forward a six-point proposal for the future cooperation:

First, to strengthen communication on bilateral or multilateral agricultural policies to expand consensus on cooperation;

Second, to establish a joint steering committee for agricultural cooperation at an early date;

Third, to secure a sustainable development of China-sponsored Agri-technology Demonstration Center in Mozambique;

Fourth, to continue encouraging investment in Mozambique by qualified Chinese agri-businesses;

Fifth, to expand cooperation in human resource development; and

Sixth, to promote a sound and rapid development in agricultural trade between the two countries.

In response, Pacheco strongly agreed with Minister Han's comments and proposal. He also expressed thanks for China's assistance and support, and wished to promote China-Mozambique agricultural cooperation to a new height.

The two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding on agricultural cooperation after the meeting.
