On 27 Oct., 2015, Henan Billions released its Q3 2015 financial report, presenting a YoY increase in revenue and a YoY decrease in net profit. As domestic market conditions were so depressed in this period, CCM thinks that such a mild sliding performance is acceptable. In fact, CCM believes that an advanced production and sales scale as well as a fine industry chain system will promise Henan Billions a bright future. Besides, Henan Billions' chloride-processed TiO2 project is worth noting and it may be a new profit generator for the company in the future.

The NBS published the coating output in October in China on 20 Nov., 2015, saying that its growth speed continued to slow down. Output in some main traditional coating production provinces, including Guangdong and Jiangsu provinces, decreased year on year. CCM believes that the depressed domestic real estate industry and the increasing pressure from cost brought by coating excise are the main reasons for the poor performance of the coating industry this year. This will also have an impact on its upstream industry, the TiO2 industry, making the TiO2 price continue to fall.

According to Tronox's financial report for Q3 2015, both of the company's revenue and profit from TiO2 segment presented YoY drops, mainly because of the significant fall in pigment price during the report period. Tronox continued to adjust production levels to further reduce inventory and improve profitability.

In Nov. 2015, Vietnam's export price of ilmenite that used to be high for a long time began to slide and exports to China was increasing. However, considering that Vietnam's export tariff of ilmenite was still as high as 20%, CCM believes that Vietnam's export market to China will be sluggish again after inventory is reduced.

In Nov. 2015, market price of TiO2 fell more significantly than that in the last month in China, mainly because demand from downstream market has become more sluggish after Chinese traditional peak season. At the same time, market prices of ilmenite and titanium slug were basically stable.

On 6 Nov., 2015, the Energy Consumption Limitation for Titanium Dioxide Product formulated by the China National Coating Industry Association was launched officially, standardizing the energy consumption of TiO2 digitally. CCM thinks the new standards can help weed out backward capacities more quickly and boost the TiO2 industry over the long haul. However, in a short term, the standards are not likely to bring any substantial benefits for the TiO2 market which is now facing its unprecedented poor conditions.

CCM was invited to make a speech on the 2015 China TiO2 Industry Annual Meeting held in Kunming City, Yunnan Province on 13 Nov., 2015. On the meeting, TiO2 industry analyst from CCM, Dean Wu, gave a speech on new trends of the domestic TiO2 market through analyzing big data, showing that Chinese TiO2 industry will continue to be gloomy in a short time and TiO2 market was relatively prosperous in Guangdong Province.

In Sept. 2015, import price of ilmenite dropped significantly in China, while the import volume increased slightly. Its downstream market, the TiO2 market recovered to some extent and a large amount of ilmenite imported from Africa was recorded by the China Customs in this month. Besides, domestic output of ilmenite stopped decreasing as some large manufacturers in Sichuan Province resumed production.

Published on 27th November, 2015

In Sept. 2015, China's imports and exports market of TiO2 recovered slightly. Both of the export volume and import volume recorded MoM increases. However, CCM thinks that market conditions for the TiO2 industry were still not satisfactory.
