China's market price of soybean meal stopped falling in mid-April 2016 while the corn price keeps decreasing. The widening price gap between soybean meal and corn reduce soybean meal's advantage in substituting corn. But prices of soybean meal and corn will tend to be stable in the future.

The MOA issued the China Agricultural Outlook Report (2016-2025) on 23 April, 2016, which forecasts the planting areas, yield, consumption, prices, imports and exports of corn in China in the coming 10 years. In the future, China will focus on reducing the planting area and yield but increasing the consumption and export of corn.

China's market price of furfural bounces back in April 2016 after falling for a long time, pulling up the price of furfuryl alcohol and increasing the price of corn cob. However, as the price rebound is just because of seasonal factor, it is predicted that it will fall in the future.

China's market price of corn oil keeps falling in 2016, which is dragged down by the falling corn price and affected by the large price gap between corn oil and soybean coil as well as the weak demand. Taking this price advantage, Xiwang Foodstuffs increased the sales of corn oil greatly.

China's market price of HFCS has been falling since Q4 2015 affected by the decreasing corn price. This widened the price gap between HFCS and its substitute cane sugar, increasing the export volume of HFCS. Notably, China's major HFCS producer Baolingbao achieved a large increase in revenue thanks to the low-priced HFCS.

China Starch released the full-year financial report of 2015, showing a YoY rise in total revenue but a YoY fall in gross profit. The revenues and gross profits from corn starch & byproduct of corn deep-processing witnessed YoY changes of 12.4% and -10.89% respectively, which impacted by the falling sales prices and low-priced imported competing products. Revenue from fermentation and downstream products also saw YoY fall of 14.8% due to the lower sales prices.

China officially canceled the purchase policy of corn for temporary storage and adjusted it to "marketized purchase + subsidy" because the high inventories of corn increase the fiscal expenditure and reduce the advantage of domestic in price. Meantime, the Chinese government will set up a subsidy system and the minimum purchase price to protect farmers' interest.

Import volumes of sorghum, barley and other substitutes for corn all reduced in Feb. 2016 after two-year rises in previous two year affected by the Spring Festival and the dropping corn price. CCM predicts that the import volumes would continue to decline due to the decreasing corn price.

In Feb. 2016, China's import volume of corn skyrocketed by 679.77% MoM thanks to the positives in production cost and business agreement. However, as the low domestic market price of corn weakens the price advantage of the imported one, and the domestic high inventory of corn affects the demand for the imported one, the import volume will fall in later period.
