China's imports and exports of selected amino acids in July In July, China's import volume of methionine witnessed a decrease over the last month, down 29.1%. Besides, export of lysine ester and salt continued to fall down, by 7.8%.

During late July to August, domestic seven feed leading enterprises released their semi-annual report for H1 2020. Despite the declining sales of pig feed in H1, six of them achieved sales growth in poultry feed, which is good news to methionine, one of the first limiting amino acids in poultry feed.

Price of domestic tryptophan reached USD7,347.7/t in Sept., up 9.4% MoM and 18.4% YoY. Nevertheless, it still remained at a low level. The increase was resulted from high price of corn and tryptophan's recovery in demand from downstream.

Sealong Biotechnology achieved double growth in revenues and net profits in H1, with surging sales from its asparaginic acid. In addition, Jinghai Amino Acid witnessed a double-digit growth in revenues and triple-digit surge in profits. Obvious increase can be seen in revenues from its amino acids APIs.

Zhejiang NHU's semi-annual report for H1 2020 showed that both of its revenue and net profits achieved rapid growth, including revenue from methionine.

Benefited from new production facility, China Starch's revenue from lysine increased by 62.1% YoY in H1; while Global Bio-chem Technology suffered a YoY decrease of over 99.0% in amino acid revenue. The latter is resulted from suspended operation of its amino acid business.

Adisseo recently announced a deal to acquire the Netherlandish feed additive producer, FRAmelco Group. Additionally, Adisseo's methionine business may be hit by an anti-dumping petition which Novus International had filed to the US Department of Commerce and the US International Trade Commission. The petition is to carry out anti-dumping investigation against imports of methionine originating in Spanish, France (They are Adisseo's major production bases) and Japan.
