In Oct. 2016, the lysine price continued falling in the Chinese market, affected by the flat sales and weak demand after the Mid-autumn Festival and National Day and further decreased corn price. As increasing new corn flows into the market in the coming period, the corn price is expected to keep declining, unlikely to support a rebound in lysine price. On the contrary, export volume of lysine ester & salt from China hit a new high in Aug.

Chinese leading feed enterprises all reduced pig feed prices, mainly affected by the sliding corn price and the slowly rising number of live pigs for sale. But restrained by the new vehicle regulations, the reduced feed prices won't bring farmers/ farm enterprises considerable benefits.

China's overall exports of amino acids performed well in Q3 2016. Export volume of lysine ester & salt recorded large growth and that of glutamic acid even hit a new high. On the contrary, export of cystine continued declining.

On 12 Oct., 2016, Sanxia Paints resumed stock trading and its stock immediately hit limit-up. The company began suspending its trading in March, for the acquisition of Ningxia Unisplendour which recorded great financial growth in methionine business in recent years. After the merger, Sanxia Paints will focus on developing both paints and methionine businesses.

On 30 Sept., 2016, L-alanine producer Huaheng Biotechnology announced that trading of its stock on the NEEQ would continue to be suspended while the company awaits an A share listing. The company has performed well in recent years, benefiting greatly from the decreasing price of glucose.

Ningxia EPPEN is now applying to enter the NEEQ. The company has performance well in recent years, thanks to the increased profit from lysine. So far, it mainly focuses on developing domestic market and weakens its export business due to a patent dispute. Given the falling domestic corn price, the company is expected to enjoy rising profit in the coming period.

Evonik started to construct the second Singapore-based methionine plant, which will double its existing production capacity in the country. Given Singapore is the second largest import origin of methionine to China, Evonik's new project is likely to further intensify competition in the Asian market.

Tianyao Pharmaceuticals announced its adjusted plan to acquire Kingyork Amino Acid for USD173.71 million (RMB1.16 billion). Tianyao Pharmaceuticals expects this merger to help it transition into being an API + preparation oriented producer of cortical hormone & amino acids and allow it to seek new sources of profit.
