On 25 March, the NATESC held an online meeting on developments and trend of wheat diseases and pests in 2020. After a through analysis of such factors as the initial population of the pests and pathogens, the distribution of wheat vegetable varieties in the planting areas, the growth of wheat, and weather forecast, experts estimated that the outbreak of wheat diseases and pests in the mid and late growth stages of wheat in 2020 will be heavier than that in both the previous year and normal years, with stripe rust and fusarium blight expected to occur heavily.

ICAMA is to approve the registration of fluopyram&middot;pyrimethanil 500 g/L SC from Bayer CropScience, which will mark the first time a fluopyram&middot;pyrimethanil compound is registered in China. It is worth mentioning that the product has been registered in North America, Europe, Russia, South Africa, Colombia and other countries and regions.

Feb., 2020 saw a plunge in China's export volume of agrochemical products as the outbreak of COVID-19 depressed the export. In Feb., the export volume of chlorothalonil dropped significantly MoM, while the price of chlorothalonil fluctuated slightly MoM as the impact of the virus on the price has yet to fully shown up.

Jiangxi Zhengbang plans to build a 15,000 t/a high-efficiency pesticides and other fine chemicals project in Xinqiao Industrial Park, Guang'an Economic and Technological Development Zone, Sichuan Province. Sichuan Huihe, Jiangxi Zhengbang's newly established wholly-owned subsidiary, will be responsible for the implementation of the project. The project involves 9 production lines, with capacity of 4,000 t/a chlorantraniliprole TC, 4,000 t/a tebuconazole TC, 600 t/a flonicamid TC, 700 t/a dinotefuran TC, 600 t/a spirotetramat TC, 600 t/a tolfenpyrad TC, 1,500 t/a sedaxane TC, 1,500 t/a fluopyram TC, and 1,500 t/a benzovindiflupyr TC, respectively.

The Hunan Provincial Government issued the Implementation Plan for Relocation and Transformation of Chemical Enterprises along the Yangtze River in Hunan Province in order to control pollution by chemical industry in the Yangtze River Economic Zone, enable the relocation and revamp of chemical producers within 1 km of the Yangtze River, and promote high-quality development of the chemical industry. When the Plan is implemented, Hunan Province's concentration of agrochemical industry will be further increased.

Shaanxi Sunger Road's 0.15% pyraclostrobin GJ has been granted a pesticide registration certificate on 22 March, 2020. The pyraclostrobin 0.15% GJ is China's first ever approved pyraclostrobin formulation that takes a form of GJ, which helps diversify the form of China's pyraclostrobin formulations. For Shaanxi Sunger Road, the issuance of the certificate means the company will be better equipped to compete on the pyraclostrobin market, and have a greater presence on the Chinese pyraclostrobin market.

According to the list of 2020's second group of agrochemicals to be approved by ICAMA, Manica S.P.A.'s bordeaux mixture 74% WG is going to obtain a registration certificate. When the certificate is issued, China's bordeaux mixture market will see a new bordeaux mixture compound, and bordeaux mixture 74% WG will become Manica S.P.A.'s first product registered in China.

Besides, depressed supply of raw materials, restricted logistics, labor shortage and rising costs impeded China's exports of azoxystrobin.

Jiangsu Sevencontinent is advancing the administrative procedures for a 47,500 t/a high-end fine chemical product project so that the construction of the project will get the go-ahead from the government. The project, with Jiangsu Sevencontinent's wholly owned subsidiary, Jining Sevencontinent, being responsible, will be located in Jining Chemical Industrial Park, Jinxiang County, Jining City, Shandong Province. The project involves a 8,000 t/a 97% prothioconazole TC production line.

Shandong Dacheng's 3,000 t/a chlorothalonil TC and supporting facilities sub-project, as part of the phase I of the company's technology upgrading and relocation project, passed the acceptance check. The sub-project builds a 1,600 t/a 1,3-dicyanobenzene capacity and a 3,000 t/a chlorothalonil TC capacity. The passing of the sub-project marks a breakthrough in Shandong Dacheng's journey to mass produce chlorothalonil TC.
