In Jan.-July 2016, China's production, sales and exports of saccharin all decreased year on year, stocks increased and price remained high. Still, environmental policies played a key role, which is expected to continue exerting restrictions on the production. Hence, in the short run, the price will not decline largely.

In Jan.-July 2016, China's export volume of sorbitol increased largely year on year, mainly due to the low priced corn and the sluggish domestic demand. From 1 Sept., the export tax rebate is increased to 13% again, expected to be a contributor to export growth.

In Aug. 2016, China's economic conditions had improvements, showing small systematic risks. Meanwhile, the FOMC meeting decided not to increase interest rate in Sept.-Oct. All this will contribute to domestic sugar business: in 2016/17, the output nationwide will rise by 600,000-800,000 tonnes, and the price will grow also.

On 30 Aug., 2016, the CSA held its 3rd executive directors' meeting, announcing that the sugar output decreased and the supply was tight in 2015/16 extracting season. However, it is of small possibility for the launch of reserved sugar in this season. In 2016/17, the sugarcane planting area will increase, the fighting against smuggled sugar will be enhanced, and the QRC traceability technology will be promoted.
