Welcome to the March issue of Sweeteners China News published by CCM International, a professional consulting company which has been extensively and intently focusing on dynamics of China's sweetener industry.
In Feb. 2012, Chinese government published the Notice of the First Temporary Purchasing Plan of Sucrose in 2012 so as to stabilize domestic sucrose price and protect the benefit and production enthusiasm of sugarcane growers. And it is expected that the temporary purchasing plan of sucrose may increase the price of sucrose in the near future, which will have a positive effect on Chinese sweeteners.
Besides, domestic average market price of corn rebounded slightly from USD365/t on 4 Jan 2012 to USD372/t on 23 Feb. 2012 owing to the National Temporary Corn Reserve 2011 and the rising demand. However, corn price's rebound imposed negative effect on corn starch and finally reduced starch sugar producers' profits.
What's more, an important exhibition in Chinese sweetener industry--Food and Ingredients China (FIC) 2012 will soon open in Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center during 28-30 March 2012. And many Chinese sweetener manufacturers, especially leading enterprises, will attend this exhibition. Meantime, a large number of oversea clients will also enter in FIC for purchase, so it is estimated that domestic sweetener producers may gain lots of orders from this exhibition, and sweetener production may be busy in the next few months.
