Welcome to the July issue of Sweeteners China News published by CCM, a professional consulting company which has been extensively and intensively focusing on the dynamics of China's sweetener industry.
In fact, the domestic functional oligosaccharide industry develops well in recent years. For example, the only two GOS producers in China witness a steady growth in recent three years. It is believed that opportunities and challenges will co-exist in the domestic functional oligosaccharide industry in the near future. The domestic feed industry will become an important downstream industry for the functional oligosaccharide producers to explore in the near future, in view of the coming issue of Approved Feed Additives (2013). And the producers also have to face the challenges such as intenser competitions and high raw material costs.
Now that the first half of 2013 has passed, it is believed that some sweetener producers in China performed poorly in H1 2013. The 2012 semi-annual report of Anhui Jinhe, an acesulfame-K producer with the second largest capacity in China revealed that its revenue of acesulfame-K continued to decrease in H1 2013, which was quite different from its expectations in the past two years. Performance of another main sweetener producer, namely Changzhou Niutang, a major domestic aspartame and sucralose producer, was also poor: its export volume of sucralose decreased by 9% YoY in the first five months of 2013, while the total national export volume of sucralose increased with a YoY up of 27%.
