According to the National Bureau of Statistics of China, China's total pesticide output from Jan. to April 2013 reached 1.04 million tonnes (100% AI), increasing slightly by 0.3% year on year. However, the total insecticide output during these four months decreased to 0.23 million tonnes, down by 6.9% year on year. Actually, China's insecticide industry has already shown an overall downtrend in 2012, with a noticeable decline of 12% in output over 2011.

Positively, not all the insecticides would suffer production depress. For example, imidacloprid and pymetrozine enjoyed a thriving year in 2012. Besides, at the beginning of 2013, the State Council issued the Plan for the Development of the Bio-Industry, including bio-pesticides. Under the circumstances, bio-insecticides including tea saponin, , etc would receive strong promotion this year. Therefore, investing in the development and promotion of eco-friendly insecticides is supposed to be an appropriate strategy for domestic agrochemical enterprises.
