Feb. 2013 is the first month of the traditional Chinese year, and many enterprises have already published their performance pre-announcement for the year 2012. Some witnessed a better-than-expected performance. For example, the net profit of Baotou Dongbao Bio-tech Co., Ltd. increased by 44.44% in 2012 owing to its newly-added capacity of gelatin and the toxic capsule incident in China. Zhejiang Hangzhou Xinfu Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. also turned losses into profits in 2012. In addition, many enterprises also announced their plans or the progress of their existing programs. For example, Cathay Industrial Biotech Co., Ltd. has already planned to invest in a long-chain nylon program, while Kaifeng Delong Energy Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. has already completed the construction of its 30,000t/a sebacic acid production line.
As usual, CCM reviewed the foreign trade of PLA, cassava and castor oil and its derivatives in Jan. 2013. Almost all of them experienced a positive year-on-year growth, which can be seen as a sign of the global macroeconomy's recovering.
As there are many enterprises paying attention to the PTT industry in recent years, CCM divided these enterprises into three categories, analyzed the current situation of this industry and forecasted its future trend. In Jan. 24-26, 2013, Inno BioPlast 2013 was held in Thailand, and sources from this conference show that Thailand's abundant agricultural resources may help it become a global bioplastic hub in the future.
