China is the largest production country of turpentine in the world. Over 10% of Chinese turpentine is exported to overseas countries per year, and some major derivatives including pine oil, terpeneol, synthetic camphor, synthetic borneol and pinene are mainly exported also.
Gum turpentine supply in China to decrease in 2007
In recent years, Chinese turpentine industry developed stably with an average growth rate of 4.86% from 2002 to 2006, the output reached 93.1kts in 2006. Although the domestic market demand for turpentine keeps increasing fast, the output will decrease in 2007 because the supply exceeds the demand and the export is unstable.
