Acephate is a slow-acting insecticide, mainly applied to control pests with chewing mouthparts and piercing-sucking developed by Chevron Co., Ltd. in 1971. In 2007, the sales of Acephate reached USD195 million in the world, as the second large organophosphorus insecticides. However, acephate's performance in China had not been satisfying until the methamidophos was banned in 2008.
