Average operating rate of pesticide enterprises was not that high as expected in China in April. Environmental and safety inspections continued, supporting herbicide TC price. In particular, some pesticide enterprises were implicated in production suspension because some safety accidents occurred in surroundings and some individual enterprises involved in environmental pollution case. In addition, the pesticide quality random inspection started this month, which to some extent caused tight supply and increased prices of some technical products.

Facing huge pressure, most manufacturers strengthen self-competiveness as response. For instance, Lier Chemical planned to further improve its glufosinate-ammonium formulations. Weifang Rainbow raised funds to construct technical project to enhance production scale and market share. Zhongshan Chemical planned to industrialise herbicide technical and extended into fungicide sector. YONON will expand glufosinate-ammonium technical capacity by 5,000 t/a to cement its market position.
