The CBFIA has published the Amino Acids for Food Processing (Consultation Paper). Following the implementation of it, domestic food enterprises will be allowed to purchase domestically produced amino acids. The China Feed Industry Expo 2018 was held in Changsha City, Hunan Province this month. Chinese government reshuffle has been witnessed after the Two Sessions concluded in late March. Some changes have also occurred in the imported feed industry. In particular, the access of imported feed is now what the China Customs is responsible for, and the China Customs will see one new responsibility: the inspection and quarantine.

Multiple amino acid producers released their annual reports in April.

• Fufeng Group realised a 10.42% YoY increase in revenue in 2017, and the share of threonine and premium amino acids increased of the company’s revenue;
• Qianjiang Yong’an realised increases both in revenue and net profit in 2017, thanks to the increases in taurine prices;
• Star Lake Bioscience made a smaller net loss in 2017, according to its annual report, but its amino acid business continued to shrink.

Liaoning Haisco obtained approval to produce Fat Emulsion, Amino Acids (17) and Glucose (11%) Injection, and has thus become the second producer of it in China.

The Ministry of Commerce has decided to impose a 25% tariff on US imports including soybeans, corn, and sorghum. CCM considers that this will have a limited influence on China’s imports of corn, and the reduced imports of sorghum will facilitate the increase of demand for corn. Higher tariff on soybeans will also help boost corn (corn gluten meal) demand.
