In April, China’s ex-works prices of technical insecticides remained stable but still high, due to the high prices of raw materials and intermediates. That of many insecticides showed a downtrend.

The peak period has arrived successively for wheat pests and diseases to occur. The occurrence of wheat pests and diseases this year is less serious than the same period of last year, with wheat red spiders and aphids heavily reported in some areas. In April, most of wheat-producing areas saw the temperature close to or higher than that in ordinary years; as for the precipitation, it was more than the ordinary years in southeastern North China, eastern Huang-Huai region, most parts of Southwest China, central and southern Northwest China, and eastern Tibet Autonomous Region. In particular, in southern Southwest China, 20% to 50% more precipitation was seen there.

Hebang Bio-technology has started the development of the huanyangchonglin project, but it is progressing slowly. Qingdao Hailir realised YoY increases in financial results in 2017, thanks to the great improvement in the insecticide business. Zhejiang Xinnong’ financial performance also improved due to increases in sales of chlorpyrifos TC and formulations.

The America saw growing demand for imidacloprid from China in 2017. Arysta and Meiji has signed a licensing agreement for a new insecticide, “flupyrimin” (development code: ME5382) for use in rice protection in India.Ukraine requires ecological assessment for insecticides and agrochemical pesticides registration.
