In Feb. 2012, some listed domestic agrochemical companies have released their 2011 financial reports in succession, most of which have witnessed a decline in their net profits, such as Veyong Bio-Chemical, Noposion, Lier Chemical, etc.
However, a small number of other listed domestic agrochemical companies were very lucky last year, achieving growth in net profit, such as Lanfeng Biochemical and Changqing Agrochemical. It is particularly worth noting that Lanfeng Biochemical's net profit has risen pari passu with its revenue in 2011.
With the public's increasing awareness of food safety and environmental protection, China's governments aim to greatly strengthen the market supervision in pesticide industry. Under the circumstances, on 16 Feb. 2012, MOH and MOA co-issued the National Food Safety Standard of MRLs for 85 Pesticides in Food, which will go into effect on 1 April, 2012.
In addition, wheat diseases mainly including sheath blight, powdery mildew, scab, stripe rust, etc., will seriously occur in China in 2012, accumulatively hitting about 30.0 million ha., up 28% year on year; rice diseases' occurrence area will increase by 6% year on year this year to accumulatively reach 30.7 million ha. all over the country.
